Trifecta. An original oil painting of thoroughbred racing from a series of photos taken at Belmont Racetrack. The energy of the lead jockey is palpable as he almost wills his racehorse across the finish line. (Yes he won). First Turn. Even the most casual thoroughbred horse racing fan will recognize the iconc spires of Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby, in this oil painting. The entrants become a blur of hooves and stable silk colors as they enter the first turn, galloping by at nearly 40 miles per hour. Top of the Stretch. And Down the Stretch They Come.
Another is a series of thoroughbred horseracing paintings, inspired by scenes from Belmont Racetrack in Queens, NY in summer, 2012. The power and beauty of these athlete/animals can only be truly appreciated in person; I hope this painting captures some of that.

<span style=`font-size: large;`>Sold
All Out. Driving. An original oil painting of the stretch run at Belmont racetrack in New York. I painted this scene from a series of photos I took situated at the top of the stretch. It will be part of a series of horseracing scenes I am planning to complete. Rallying. Two Minutes to Post. An original oil painting of Belmont Park racetrack in New York. An outrider leads a thoroughbred during the post-parade at the start of a race. If a horse gets loose in the post-parade, it is the outrider`s responsibility to catch him, preventing injuries and a late scratch. They also often act as goodwill ambassadors, routinely positioning their ponies in the paddock between races so children can pet their noses and fans can have pictures taken. Thanksgiving. An original oil painting of jockey Mario Gutierrez after winning the Kentucky Derby in 2012 aboard I`ll Have Another. The unlikely victor looks to the heavens to give thanks as he and his horse gain immortality by winning the first leg of horseracing`s Triple Crown.
